Deborah Elaine (Shier) Collier19582021

Debbie Collier beloved wife of Bill Collier entered into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on October 2nd, 2021, at the age of 63, following a brief illness.

Debbie was born on March 30th at Mount Forest, Ontario to Elizabeth and Elmer Shier. She received her early education in the town of Mount Forest. Debbie went out on her own at the young age of 16. She worked in Toronto for a while and then travelled out west. She then embarked on a career as an LPN at a college in Calgary. Debbie worked as an LPN in the towns of Rimbey, Eckville and Rocky Mountain House. During all this she did find time to get married and have a family and settle in Rocky. Debbie loved working with people and the patients enjoyed her happy disposition and she treated them well. After retirement Debbie and Bill did a lot of travelling as she liked to explore new places and different things. They have been to all but 4 states in the US, travelled all over Europe, Australia and the Philippines, Mexico, and Ecuador. Debbie volunteered her time to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts when the children were young. She volunteered for the Hospice in Rocky, the local Food Bank where she was serving as the secretary. As well Debbie gave much of her time to serving the elderly, taking them to appointments in town and out of town and just visiting and playing games with them. Debbie was active in her church community, she helped with VBS, Sunday school, the Kidztown ministry, organizing fun events with Bill, and meeting for prayer times. Debbie enjoyed golf, floor curling, skiing and she loved to sing. She started a sing-along for the seniors at the Good Sam’s as well she sang for the hospital patients on Thursday afternoons when that was allowed. Bill and Debbie spent much time camping out west. She, as well, had a fondness for cats and dogs and on occasion had a few.

Debbie was baptized in a church down in Calgary where she made her public confession of Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. The most important thing to Debbie was her faith in God. She was willing and bold in sharing her faith in God with others. Her desire was to see others come to Jesus. At different times she would say "I can’t wait to see Jesus".

Debbie is survived by her loving husband Bill, sons Adam and Dylan, daughter Ricci and grandson Ryland of Rocky Mountain House. She leaves to mourn her passing her siblings, Cynthia Spaans, Sharon Bell, and Brian Shier, all of Ontario. Susan Shier of Saskatchewan, Eddie Shier of Manitoba and Rebecca Shier of New Brunswick as well as all their families.

Debbie will be missed by many friends in Rocky and elsewhere.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents Elizabeth and Elmer Spier of Orangeville, Ontario.

A Funeral Service will be held for Debbie at the Nazarene Church in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at 1:00PM. COVID protocols will be in effect.
